POSITION: SIHLE / WILLOW - Prevention Facilitator (Full-Time)

 

Iris House, a nonprofit agency in West Harlem is seeking full-time permanent Prevention Facilitator for our Prevention Department.  The incumbent will be primarily responsible

for providing intervention and educational workshops to Adults and Adolescent women.  She/He will focus on gender pride, maintaining social networks, enhancing awareness of STD transmission and HIV reinfection risk behaviors, healthy and unhealthy relationships, defining abusive relationships and its effect on women. The position will facilitate groups for two evidenced-based interventions within the Prevention Services Department:  WILLOW, a program providing educational workshops to Adult women aged 18-50 who are HIV positive within the program entitled “Women Helping Women”, and SIHLE, a program providing educational workshops to Adolescent girls aged 14-18 within the program entitled “YOU!”. 

 

Position includes but not limited to Facilitate behavioral intervention and educational workshops. Develop recruitment strategies and work with partner agencies to recruit and screen eligible participants. Lead preparatory activities for implementing the intervention including the creation of participant handbooks and printing program materials to be used in each session. Schedule and conduct intervention sessions and follow-up with participants to increase retention in the program. Collect and store participant data and workshop evaluations. Develop and maintain monthly reports on recruitment and retention to be submitted to supervisor. Attend ongoing training on planning and implementing the intervention.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Candidate must pose at minimum High school plus 1 – 2 years experience in Human Services with emphasis on HIV/AIDS. Candidate must have experience in facilitating groups, strong communication and public speaking skills.  Experience conducting outreach and recruitment. Excellent organizational skill and planning skills.  Candidate must be able to work well with co-workers.            

 

Intermediate knowledge of HIV/AIDS, STI’s, and safe sex methods. Candidate must pose cultural competency skill, dependable individual, creative in presenting required materials to intended audience. Strong time management skills.  Experience as a peer leader and/or working with teens.

 

Position will require evening and weekend work.
