Behavioral Health Services

Picture
Behavioral Health is a key component of any holistic approach to health care and support services, and here at Iris House, our team delivers critical services to both clients and case management staff.

ASSESSMENTS
Our Behavioral  Health Team provides annual assessments to clients enrolled in our Scatter Site Housing Program in the form of biopsychosocial reviews.  These reviews capture a snapshot of a client's emotional state and create a daily baseline for case managers and social workers to build on, develop treatment plans and help with referrals to external agencies.   These reviews help to assess a client's program readiness as well as determine indicators of success.

COUNSELLING and CRISIS INTERVENTION
Our team is able to provide non-therapeutic counselling to clients on both an as needed and scheduled basis.  We provide on-going and one-time services to women and men enrolled in our regular programs, and have team members who serve as crisis counselors in times of extreme emergency.  If required, appropriate action is taken to ensure that people in true distress are referred (and sometimes taken immediately) to facilities that have more options for care.

EMOTIONAL WELLNESS / GROUP ACTIVITIES
The Behavioral Health Department manages the activities of our ongoing weekly emotional wellness groups for women, including the Sister to Sister Programs for HIV+ women on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  For more information on Emotional Wellness Groups, please visit that page.

PSYCHOLOGICAL and EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS
The Department provides regular psychoeducational workshops to groups and the general public.  Please check with the front desk about any upcoming programs.

CLINICAL SUPPORT
Our Team provides clinical support and in-house consultation to the front-line case management staff at Iris House, helping to create flags and catch them before clients slip into emotional distress.
